Ahead of this T20I match, which will be also both their first limited-overs international match in this calendar year, they competed in the four-match Test series where the hosts won the series by a 3-1 margin. But this T20I series is a totally different series and both teams will have to begin from zero.

It was the T20I match between India vs Pakistan on 28th December 2012, where the hosts won the match by 11 runs. It was a high-scoring match where the Men in Blue scored 192/5 (20 overs), majorly thanks to Yuvraj Singh‘s 72 off 36 balls. Then Pakistan managed to reply with 181/7 (20 overs). While the visiting pacer Umar Gul (4/37) was their only wicket-taker in the first innings, Ashok Dinda was India’s only bowler who finished the game with more than one wicket (3/36).

During the recent Test matches at this venue between India and England, including the pink-ball Test match, the pitches were drier where the spinners got huge benefits. However, we can expect better batting wickets at this venue during this T20I series.
