Former Pakistan batsman Ramiz Raja Heaps Praise on Indian skipper Virat Kohli who produced a fine display of batting on the turning track in Chennai in the second test against England. Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin manage to stitch a crucial partnership in the middle when all the other batsmen failed to cope with the spin on the pitch. Kohli was dismissed after fine innings of 62 and was worthy of a century.

Ashwin went on to complete his fifth century in tests alongside his five-wicket haul in the first innings. Axar had a scintillating debut with a fifer in the second innings while Rohit’s 162 in the first innings was the massive difference between the two sides. India has now levelled the series 1-1 with two tests to go with the third test starting at Ahmedabad on February 24.

“His Footwork Exemplary, Concentration Was Very Good” – Ramiz Raja

Ramiz Raja mentioned that the way Rohit and Ashwin batted made sure that there can be no questions raised on the pitch. He added that Virat Kohli’s innings was the best among all the batsmen who contributed.  He told about the footwork and concentration on a tough pitch being two key factors in Kohli’s innings. He compared Kohli while batting on the pitch to a rolls Royce driving on the road.

“The batting was outstanding. When your opener scores above 160, you can’t really question the pitch. And the way Ashwin batted in the second innings using his common sense was superb. But the man who batted the best in the match was Virat Kohli. His footwork exemplary, concentration was very good on a difficult track. It felt like a Rolls Royce was batting in the middle,” Ramiz Raja said in his YouTube channel.

Complete Performance From India – Ramiz Raja

Ramiz Raja told that India picked the right team for the second test and was bold enough with their selections. He mentioned that it was a complete performance from the Indian team after the loss in the first test and praised the performers for India in the second test.

“India went ahead of the perfect team. They did not shy away from making bold selections. Axar Patel picked up five wickets on debut, Ravichandran Ashwin scored a century, picked up wickets, the catching was brilliant from India. Overall, it was a complete performance from India. They had lost the first Test, needed to make a turnaround and they did it,” Ramiz Raja added.
