Former Sri Lankan Batting Legend Mahela Jayawardene has said England have prepared well for the upcoming series against India after their win against Sri Lanka at Sri Lanka. England who has performed really well in those turning subcontinent pitches in Sri Lanka will be high on confidence after winning the series 2-0. Their next assignment against India will be starting at Chennai on February 5 and it will be an important series for both teams on account of the World Championship table.

India who has returned from Australia with a historic series win without their match winners should not take the England team easily. England will pose a tough challenge for the Indian team even on subcontinent pitches and they have got the much-needed impetus with the likes of Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes returning to the squads after resting for the tests against Sri Lanka.

Mahela Jayawardene Says An Exciting Series Is On The Cards

Mahela Jayawardene has told the Series will be a really comprehensive and tough one for both sides based on their current form. He told that the addition of Ben Stokes will be a great boost for the England team and add to that the raw pace of Jofra Archer will be a well balanced and combined unit. will be  He added that Johny Bairstow would have been really effective after the way he played in the Sri Lanka series and England will be unfortunate to miss him.

“Getting Ben Stokes back will be a massive advantage for England because he will bring that experience and be another left-handed batsman in their top-order which can be crucial. ‘It will be a challenge for Rory Burns if he opens. He hasn’t played much cricket lately. I’m disappointed Bairstow is leaving the squad given his experience and the way he batted in this series. He should be at that touring party. Jofra Archer will bring something to the table with his pace, especially on slower wickets. So I think overall they [England] are very well prepared.” Mahela Jayawardene told Sky Sports.
