Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj is looking forward to sharing the dressing room and bowling alongside veteran pacer Ishant Sharma in the upcoming Test series against England.

Siraj had a dream debut series against Australia where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker for Team India in the absence of several first-choice pacers.

The fast bowlers claimed as many as 13 wickets during the course of the three Tests including a five-wicket haul in the second innings of the Gabba Test.

Siraj has been named in the Indian squad alongside fellow fast bowlers Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur for the home Tests against England and the pacer is looking forward to continuing with the good work that he did Down Under besides learning pearls of wisdom by bowling alongside Ishant Sharma.

Sharma will be making a return to the Test team after having missed out on the Australian series due to injury.

“It doesn’t matter whether I am playing at home or away, my performances and winning matches for my team have always mattered to me the most. I am all prepared for the England series,” Mohammed Siraj told TOI.

“I have bowled alongside Bumrah, Shami bhai, and Shardul. They are part of the series (vs England). I am so excited now to bowl alongside Ishant Sharma. It is going to be a huge learning curve for me,” Siraj added

Mohammed Siraj is hugely confident that he will continue to do the good work that he had done in Australia and his prime motivation is to perform and win games for his country.

“I just want to perform for my country. I want to help the team win the England series the way I did in Australia. The Australia series was a big opportunity for me. I am sure I will continue the good show against England as well,” Siraj added.

He further added that he is looking forward to using the knowledge that he had gained from senior players and head coach Ravi Shastri in the Test series against England.

“There was a lot that I learnt from the Australia series. From sharing dressing rooms to net sessions, I learned a lot from the seniors like Pujara, Ajji bhaia (Ajinkya Rahane), Shami bhai, Rohit bhaia and coach Ravi sir. I want to use that knowledge now against England,” he added.

The first Test of the four-match series between India and England will kickstart at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on February 05.
