Former Indian batsman Deep Dasgupta has reckoned that the Indian opener Rohit Sharma is not out-of-form and is actually out of runs after the first test at Chennai. India lost by a huge margin of 227 runs to give England the lead of 1-0 in the series. Two of the Mumbai batsman Rohit and Rahane who failed in both the innings of the first test had been criticized for their under-par performance against the England attack.

Rohit managed scores of 6 and 12 in the first test and his recent form after returning from injury hasn’t been great either. He has had good starts but has been throwing away his wickets in Australia which was a concern. But in India where he averages relatively higher, his dismissals were questioned a lot. He edged an Archer’s delivery in the first innings which he could have left it while he did not cover the line against the spinner Jack Leach in the second innings to get bowled.

Deep Dasgupta Feels Rohit Sharma Has Been Dismissed On Good Deliveries

Deep Dasgupta had opined on Sports Today that Rohit Sharma has been dismissed on good deliveries in the first test against England and he added that the Mumbai Batsman is just lacking runs and not lacking form. He mentioned that Rohit should have capitalized on the good starts in Australia where he went for playing big shots and was caught in the boundaries.

Rohit will need to step up in the second test as his opening partner Shubman Gill has really looked good and Gill scored a half-century in the second innings until getting knocked over by a beauty of a delivery from James Anderson. With Mayank Agarwal sitting in the wings, Rohit needs a big score to keep his name intact for the remaining tests against England.

Rohit’s dipping form has been a reason of worry for the Indian team management and he himself would like to shut the critics with his performances in the upcoming Test matches against England.
