Indian National Cricket team opener Rohit Sharma is currently plying his trade for the national side in the five-match ODI series against New Zealand Cricket team. Although Sharma failed to score runs in the opening fixture, the visitors notched up an eight-wicket win at Napier.

Virat Kohli & Co has visited the land of Kiwis after a gruelling summer in Australia. The Indian scripted history during their tour to Down Under winning their first-ever Test series and a bilateral ODI series win. And now they will clash against the Kiwis in a five-match ODI series followed by three T20Is. As a result, the long summer has kept the Indian cricketers away from their families from November, and they will return in mid-February.

Rohit Sharma missing his family

While most of the cricketers are travelling with their family, Rohit Sharma is all alone in this tour. His wife Ritika Sajdeh has recently given birth to a baby child on December 30. The Mumbai batsman returned to the country to be with his wife but had to return before the ODI series against Australia.

However, he seems to have already started his wife and daughter. He posted a picture on social media expressing he wants to go back as quickly as possible.

Miss my ? @ritssajdeh,” Rohit captioned the picture.

India goes 1-0 up in the series

Meanwhile, the hosts went down in the first outing to go trail 1-0 in the five-match ODI series.  Mohammed Shami started off on a great note knocking over both the openers in successive overs. Skipper Kane Williamson’s call of opting to bat faltered as Yuzvendra Chahal soon had two return catches to have the hosts down to 76 for 4. Kuldeep Yadav then joined the party and bagged wickets (four) for fun as the spin twins helped India bowl New Zealand out for 157.

India didn’t ‘t looked out of place during the run chase. The sun did bother the batsmen by coming right in the line of the batsman’s view, forcing play to stop for about half an hour. Shikhar Dhawan held one end tight and alongside Virat Kohli, ensured it was a cakewalk for India. It was India’s first win against New Zealand in the land of Kiwis since 2009.
