India women take on their Thailand counterparts in the first semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet on October 13. India are eyeing the finals of the tournament and the glorious Asia Cup title. 

The Thailand Women’s Cricket Team have made it to the semi-finals for the very first time in the history of their cricket. This is the farthest they have reached in a multi-anation tournament. Thailand defeated Pakistan, UAE and Malaysia and booked the semi-final spot after their match against Bangladesh was washed out due to rain.

Bangladesh was on four points before their game against UAE and Thailand was on six. A win for Bangladesh would have helped them reach the semis. However, due to persistent rain, no match was possible and the two teams were awarded a point each. As a result, Bangladesh finished on five and Thailand made it to the semis with six points despite a negative run rate. 

India, on the other hand, had a fabulous campaign winning matches by big margins. Their only defeat was against arch-rivals Pakistan in a fairly low-scoring encounter. Pakistan won the match by 13 runs as they defended 138 by bowling India out for 124.
