Former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar believes that team India will not make any changes to a squad that doesn’t have any problems. He feels the playing XI will remain the same unless there are some changes in the overall conditions.

India’s 4-1 pace-spin combination worked like a charm in both Tests. The fast bowlers have taken 39 out of 40 English wickets, while the other one was a run-out. Even the batting, despite struggling a bit, deserves another chance so Agarkar feels there won’t be any alterations.

I can’t imagine unless the conditions drastically change, and it is dry if they are expecting hot weather. Ashwin might be the only change.

But I can’t imagine why you would change a team after having won a Test match unless you have real problems. As good as Shardul (Thakur) bowled in the first test, he might have to miss out since Ishant (Sharma) bowled well in the second Test,” he opined.

“India’s seam bowlers will enjoy bowling at Headingley” – Ajit Agarkar

Headingley is a typical English stadium, where the conditions favor the bowlers. The average first innings total is 307, while the average for the fourth innings comes down to 166.

While keeping this in mind, Ajit Agarkar drew on his own experience and reckoned that Team India’s quicks, Ishant, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah will have a field day on the Headingley pitch.

I remember playing that 2002 Test. We batted first playing on a green surface. We played a very different attack with two seamers and two spinners.

This attack is different, and conditions in Headingley have historically been good for fast bowling..so I think India’s seam bowlers will enjoy bowling here,” Agarkar added.

The Headingley Test will take place from August 25-29, and a win for Team India all but secures the series for them.
