Delhi Capitals [DC] have stamped their authority once again on the Dream11 IPL 2020 courtesy a thumping 59-run win against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore [RCB] at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday; one that has once again taken them to the numero-uno spot in the points table.

It was a thoroughly professional performance by the Delhi Capitals as they outplayed the Royal Challengers in all facets of the game. Having been put in to bat, the Capitals got off to a brilliant start thanks to a belligerent 68-run-stand between Prithvi Shaw [42 off 23 balls] and Shikhar Dhawan [32 off 28 balls].

RCB clawed back in the game thanks to three back-to-back wickets but Marcus Stoinis [53 off 26 balls] astonishing assault coupled by Rishabh Pant’s brilliance [37 off 25 balls] meant DC scored 79 runs in the last seven over to eventually post 4-196 in 20 overs.

Chasing 197, RCB never looked like getting anywhere near the target as they lost wickets at regular intervals throughout their innings. While Devdutt Padikkal [4 off 6 balls] fell to Ravichandran Ashwin after having mistimed the slog-sweep, Axar Patel dismissed Aaron Finch- who by the way survived a possible mankade by Ashwin- and Anrich Nortje getting rid of AB de Villiers, meaning that RCB needed their skipper Virat Kohli to produce a Kohli-esque innings.

But that was not to be. Kohli struggled throughout his 39-ball 43 and was eventually dismissed by Kagiso Rabada after he failed yo nail the lofted stroke past midwicket, managing an inside edge that was safely gobbled by the keeper.

Kagiso Rabada [4-24] went bang bang after Kohli’s dismissal as he knocked over Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, and Isuru Udana to ensure that the run-chase was killed way before 20 overs were bowled.

Thanks to today’s win, DC has become the only side to win four games out of their first 5 while RCB’s net run-rate has yet again taken a beating due to the margin of the defeat-59 runs. They, however, remain at the 3rd spot.
