Defending champions Mumbai Indians bought 7 players during IPL 2021 auction. The IPL 2019 and IPL 2020 champions bought pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile for Rs. 5 crore, after releasing him earlier. Mumbai Indians also bought pacer Adam Milne for Rs. 3.2 crore. Piyush Chawla was another big deal for the franchisee, who was bought for Rs. 2.4 crore.

Mumbai Indians’ other deals at IPL 2021 auction were James Neesham for Rs. 50 lakh, Yudhvir Charak for Rs. 20 lakh, Marco Jansen for Rs. 20 lakh and Arjun Tendulkar for Rs. 20 lakh. Ahead of the auction, Mumbai Indians released 7 players out of their squad. They were- Prince Balwant Rai, Digvijay Deshmukh, Lasith Malinga, Nathan Coulter-Nile, James Pattinson, Sherfane Rutherford, and Mitchell McCleneghan.

The five-time IPL champions also retained 18 players in their squad. Mumbai Indians is a very strong team in the Indian Premier League and also the most successful ones. Last year in IPL 2020, Bumrah was the second-most successful bowler after Kagiso Rabada, taking 27 wickets in 15 matches. Bumrah has been part of Mumbai Indians since he debuted in the 2013 season. In 14 games he played in IPL 2020, Hardik smashed 281 runs in 13 innings. He had a strike rate of 178+. His high strike rate at the lower middle-order becomes very useful aspect for the team. Mumbai Indians will send him on the field in every game of IPL 2021.

At the middle-order position, Suryakumar Yadav is a very crucial batsman for Mumbai. Hence, the team will not exclude him from any match in IPL 2021 too.
