Former Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar has advised Kolkata Knight Riders to induct Lockie Ferguson in their playing XI for their upcoming matches of IPL 2021. Agarkar feels that the New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson is someone who can win matches for Kolkata Knight Riders. Kolkata Knight Riders have lost 4 games in a row in IPL 2021.
After the victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening game in IPL 2021, Kolkata Knight Riders have suffered a losing streak. In the previous 4 matches, the Eoin Morgan-led side KKR lost to Mumbai Indians by 10 runs, Royal Challengers Bangalore by 38 runs, Chennai Super Kings by 18 runs, and Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets.
KKR Should Look For Lockie Ferguson In Playing XI: Ajit Agarkar
While speaking to IANS, former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar said that Kolkata Knight Riders are just not playing well enough. He also said that KKR can’t give any excuse for their poor batting show at Wankhede Stadium in their previous game.
“For a batting line-up which is full of talent, full of ability, they’re just not playing well enough. You could excuse a couple of pitches in Chennai and say ‘Oh, those were tough wickets maybe and that’s why they didn’t get their rhythm ‘.
“But here (in Mumbai) you’ve got no excuse,” Maybe this wasn’t a 200-run pitch but sure they (KKR) have enough talent to get to 160, which then almost becomes a match-winning total,” Ajit Agarkar said.
Agarkar also advised Kolkata Knight Riders to go with Lockie Ferguson in their upcoming matches.
“And if you take my opinion, they should take a look at someone like Lockie Ferguson to come into the playing XI, whether it is at the expense of an Eoin Morgan or Pat Cummins or a Sunil Narine. He’s someone who’ll win you games on these pitches,” Ajit Agarkar further said.
Kolkata Knight Riders came under scrutiny after they scored just 133-9 at a batting-friendly pitch at Wankhede Stadium in their previous match against Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals’ Chris Morris dismantled the KKR batsmen with his 4-wicket haul in the match.
Rajasthan Royals comfortably managed to chase the target in 18.5 overs and won the match by 6 wickets, handing KKR their 4th consecutive loss in IPL 2021 tournament. With just 1 victory in 5 matches, KKR holds the last spot in the IPL 2021 points table.
