The IPL 2021 Auction is scheduled to take place on February 18 in Chennai and here are three players who might end up as the costliest pick this year. Every franchise will be having their work cut out in picking up the right players in the auction and it will be interesting to see the strategy of the franchises with only a year to go before the mega auction in 2022. This is the time when analysts will play a major role in filling the holes in the squad as well as setting the maximum bid amount for the players aimed to buy.

A lot of big names have been released by the franchises ahead of the auction including the likes of Steve Smith, Kedar Jadhav, Piyush Chawla, Aaron Finch, and Glenn Maxwell. The trading window is still open while only three players have been traded so far before the IPL 2021 auction. Daniel Sams and Harshal Patel who represented Delhi Capitals in the last season have been traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore while senior batsman Robin Uthappa has been traded from the Rajasthan Royals to Chennai Super Kings.

The all-rounder from Mumbai was released by RCB before the IPL 2021 auction and he could end up being a costly pick as the left-hander possesses a wide range of skills. He can tonk the ball out of the ground at will and he is a smart bowler with a lot of variations under his sleeve.

He hasn’t performed in IPL up to his expectations yet, but with the option that he can provide in two departments, he will be surely a player to go after for the franchises. Delhi Capitals might be keen to get Dube in the auction as he does meet their requirements of an all-rounder at six.

Nathan Coulter Nile

The big fast bowler from Australia was released by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the auction. He didn’t have the best of IPLs last season and had to be benched for the most part owing to the injury concerns he had. Coulter Nile has a pretty good record in IPL and he can swing the new ball with pace which becomes a big threat for the opponents.

He is a handy batsman at eight providing an extra addition to the team. His wicket-taking ability might work in his favour and he could end up as a costly pick in the auction for IPL 2021.

Chris Morris

A lot of cricket fans, as well as experts, were surprised by the release of Chris Morris by Royal Challenger Bangalore ahead of the auction. Chris Morris is one of the IPL stars and he has great numbers in the tournament. Despite performing decently for the RCB franchise, he was released, and now it has opened the doors for the other franchises to bid for the South African.

Morris can bowl the tough overs for any franchise and he is handy with the bat in the end overs. He is expected to attract a lot of bidders for him this time in IPL 2021 auction.

IPL 2021 will be held in the months of April-May in India which will be a great moment for the fans in India. The IPL 2021 auction is all set to take place on February 18.
