IPL 2021 Auction: Full List Of Players Bought By Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals bought 8 players in IPL 2021 auction. Delhi Capitals had Rs. 12.8 crore budget with them in the mini-auction and they spent Rs. 11.25 crore to choose their favourite players. Hence, DC utilised their budget to a great extent. England cricketer Tom Curran was Delhi Capitals’ costliest choice in IPL 2021 auction at Rs. 5.23 crore.

Steve Smith became one of the notable deals for Delhi Capitals, which the franchise managed to buy without engaging in any bidding wars with the other seven franchises. Steve Smith made his way into Delhi Capitals at Rs. 2.2 crore prices, just 20 lakh more than his base price of Rs. 2 crore.

Out of Delhi Capitals’ eight buys in IPL 2021 auction, there were 3 overseas players and 5 domestic players. Ahead of IPL 2021 auction, the franchise opted to release 6 players out of the team. They were Alex Carey, Keemo Paul, Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Lamichhane, Mohit Sharma and Jason Roy.

Delhi, who were the runners-up in IPL 2020, chose to retain 19 players in their squad for IPL 2021. Delhi failed to defeat Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020 final. However, their performance was among the best ones in the IPL  tournaments so far. Along with skipper Shreyas Iyer, the franchise retained Ajinkya Rahane, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Prithvi Shaw, R Ashwin, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Lalit Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Daniel Sams, Pravin Dubey and Chris Woakes.
