Former Indian bowler Ashish Nehra talked about Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya‘s form in recent times.
Pandya didn’t have a great series against Sri Lanka where he could just manage 29 runs in the three innings he batted.
Everyone has their eyes on Hardik Pandya: Ashish Nehra
Hardik Pandya scored 52 runs for Mumbai Indians in the Indian leg of IPL 2021 and he has not bowled a single over as he was suffering through a shoulder niggle he endured during the England ODI series.
Nehra feels that Pandya should bowl at least two overs in the remaining matches for Mumbai Indians.
“Everyone has their eyes on him [Hardik Pandya]. I am not saying that he must always bowl all four overs, but if he can complement Kieron Pollard and bowl a couple of overs, that will be a huge plus for the team,” Nehra told Cricbuzz.
“With the bat, he is an impact player. His form has been fluctuating over the last year, but he is a player who can change things quickly. So, Mumbai Indians would really want him to fire,” he added.
When runs come out from Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard it could put even the big teams in trouble: Ashish Nehra
Kieron Pollard has played a massive role in Mumbai Indians’ lower-middle batting order and has also pulled out the team from difficult situations. Both Pollard and Pandya can just walk in the park and whack the bowlers on regular basis.
Nehra said that if Pandya and Pollard combine together and fire in the death overs then the opposition will face a big challenge.
“The role Kieron Pollard has played in the past few years is commendable. The way he carries himself on the field and even along with his teammates is really good to see considering that he is an overseas player. When runs come out from Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard it could put even the big teams in trouble,” Nehra mentioned.
Mumbai Indians will resume their IPL 2021 campaign against Chennai Super Kings on September 19 at the Dubai International Stadium.
