In this IPL 2021, Chennai have produced low-scoring matches as the batsmen are struggling to score runs as batting is becoming difficult with time progress. In the last three games at this venue, even 150 runs chase became difficult as the first batting teams won all those last three matches.

Overall of this IPL season, the chasing team won only the first game at this venue, which was also the opening match of this season and RCB successfully chased the 160 runs in the final-ball thriller against Mumbai Indians (MI). The average first innings score at this venue in this IPL 2021 is 159.4.

Spinners are playing very effective roles in this venue while pacers have also some good records. Though chasing is tougher at this venue, first batting in the forthcoming match means that they have to bat under the hot sunny condition.
