Rajasthan Royals (RR) are getting ready to play their second match of the IPL 2021 where they will face Delhi Capitals (DC) at Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai) this Thursday (15th April) night.
Rajasthan Royals were so close to winning their season opener against Punjab Kings (PBKS) as they just lost that match by 4 runs. However, it was majorly the one-man show as newly-elected captain Sanju Samson batted incredibly and scored a century but just failed to secure the victory, majorly due to lack of support from the other end.
While their first game of this season was not so strong enough anyway despite their close defeat, Rajasthan Royals are facing more issue in their overseas squad. While the Most Valuable Player of the IPL 2020, England cricketer Jofra Archer is still unsure for this IPL 2021, another England cricketer Ben Stokes has just been ruled out from this tournament due to a broken finger.
IPL 2021, Match 7: Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals (RR vs DC) – RR Predicted Playing XI
Jos Buttler (wk)
Before the IPL 2021, England cricketer Jos Buttler was in good form in the T20I series against the hosts India. In their season opener, Rajasthan Royals cricketer Buttler scored 25 runs off just 13 balls (5 fours). As Ben Stokes has been ruled out from this tournament, Buttler may open for Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming matches.
Manan Vohra was in great form in the recent domestic cricket and Rajasthan Royals team management expects the same batting form from him in this IPL 2021. In their season opener, Vohra scored 12 runs before he lost his wicket.
Riyan Parag came to bat at the late moment during Rajasthan Royals’ first match of the IPL 2021 where he scored 25 off just 11 balls with the help of only four and 3 sixes. He also played an important role in why the Rajasthan franchise made a late comeback in that match.
Also, with the ball in hand, Riyan Parag took the wicket of Chris Gayle (40 off 28 balls).
Sanju Samson (C)
Sanju Samson made his IPL debut as a captain in their first match of the IPL 2021 and he smashed an unforgettable century that almost snatched away a victory. Chasing down the 222 runs target, it was almost a one-man show from Rajasthan Royals as Samson became the first cricketer to score a century on IPL captaincy debut and scored 119 runs off 63 balls (12 fours and 7 sixes) before getting out on the final delivery. Apart from him, all other RR batsmen failed to reach the 30-run mark in that big chasing.
While England all-rounder Ben Stokes has been ruled out from this tournament due to an injury, South African cricketer David Miller can play his first IPL match in this season, who has just completed his quarantine period after landing in India. In the recent home ODI series against Pakistan, Miller performed impressively as he scored 50 and 50 not out in the first two ODIs before leaving the country for the IPL. Earlier, in the domestic T20 tournament, Miller finished as the fourth most run-scorer who scored 158 runs in six innings.
Miller also performed well in the T20I series in Pakistan where he scored 116 runs in three innings. Surely, he can be a great asset for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2021.
Nobody has forgotten Rahul Tewatia’s incredible batting in the last IPL season. Later, he had some good experiences in domestic cricket. In their first match of the IPL 2021, Tewatia was sent to bat at a very late moment where he scored only 2 runs.
In their first match of the IPL 2021, all-rounder Shivam Dube first conceded 20 runs in his only over of that match. Later, he scored 23 runs off 15 balls (3 fours) before he lost his wicket at long-off. As Rajasthan Royals will now miss Ben Stokes in this season, Dube has to play a more important role for the team.
South African cricketer Chris Morris impressed in the last two IPL seasons as Rajasthan Royals bought him for a record price in the IPL 2021 Auction. In their season opener, Morris had bowling figures of 4-0-41-2. He later scored 2 not out off 4 balls after coming to bat in the 19th over.
In the recent domestic matches, leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal was really consistent as a bowler and also scored some useful runs with the bat. Though he has bowling figures of 3-0-40-0 during his first game of the IPL 2021, he has the ability to come back strongly.
Left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya made his IPL debut in the previous match where he had bowling figures of 4-0-31-3. While the other Rajasthan Royals bowlers were struggling, the youngster impressed with his quality bowling performance, where he dismissed openers Mayank Agarwal (14) and captain KL Rahul (91) along with Jhye Richardson (0).
Australian cricketer Andrew Tye can replace Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who conceded 45 runs in his four overs quota during Rajasthan Royals’ first match of the IPL 2021. Tye won the Purple Cap of the IPL 2018 and he was in strong touch in the recent BBL 2020/21 (21 wickets in 16 matches).
