IPL 2021, Match 8: Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings (PBKS vs CSK) – PBKS Predicted Playing XI
KL Rahul (C & wk)
Captain KL Rahul has maintained his giant IPL image in their first game of the IPL 2021 as he scored 91 off 50 balls (7 fours and 5 sixes) before losing his wicket in the final over of the first innings. The right-handed batsman is currently in very good form as his scores in the last four matches were 62*, 108, 7 and 91 (three ODIs and one IPL match).
Mayank Agarwal was the second most run-scorer for the Punjab franchise in the IPL 2020. But he is currently struggling with his form as he lost his place from the Indian Test playing XI. Now, during PBKS first game in the IPL 2021, Mayank scored just 14 runs. However, PBKS team management is hopeful of him.
Caribbean cricketer Chris Gayle has started the IPL 2021 in a strong way as he scored 40 off 28 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes. His batting is enough for any team to dream of good scores and the PBKS team management is dreaming the strong form from Gayle in this IPL season.
In their first match of the IPL 2021, Deepak Hooda played a smashing knock of 64 off just 28 balls with the help of 4 fours and 6 sixes. It was his second consecutive half-century in IPL as he played another impressive knock of 62 not out off just 30 balls during their last game of the IPL 2020. His batting can surely solve the middle-order batting issue for PBKS.
Though the Caribbean cricketer Nicholas Pooran scored a golden duck in their first match of the IPL 2021, he came to bat in the death overs. Young talent Pooran has the ability to play crucial roles in the team batting line-up but he needs to perform more consistently.
Recently, Shahrukh Khan impressed in domestic cricket, especially for his huge batting strike rate. He can also play responsible big innings as he has the talent to play according to the game’s situation. In their first game of the IPL 2021, he only batted in the death overs and scored 6 not out off 4 balls.
Australian cricketer Moises Henriques is a good all-rounder, who was in good form in recent domestic cricket and BBL 2020/21. He can be a useful name for PBKS in the IPL 2021, especially when he has already played 57 IPL matches till 2017.
Australian youngster Jhye Richardson made his IPL debut in the last game where he conceded 55 runs in his four-over quota and took only one wicket of Jos Buttler (25). But, it is unlikely to put a poor impact on him as he has already proved himself with his strong pace-bowling nature, who was also the most wicket-taker in the BBL 2020/21.
Experienced pacer Mohammed Shami has just recovered from the injury and bowled really well in the high-scoring match against Rajasthan Royals where he had bowling figures of 4-0-33-2. He is surely a very crucial name in the PBKS bowling line-up.
While many bowlers struggled in their first match of the IPL 2021, PBKS seamer Arshdeep Singh was one of the best bowlers that night as he finished that match with bowling figures of 4-0-35-3 as he took the wickets of opener Manan Vohra, Shivam Dube and the best batsman of that night Sanju Samson on the final ball. More importantly, he successfully defended 13 runs in the final over of that match.
Murugan Ashwin played for PBKS in their first match of the IPL 2021 where he had bowling figures of 4-0-43-0. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi can replace Murugan Ashwin for the upcoming match, who was recently in good form in domestic cricket as he was really consistent performer with the ball.
