Cheteshwar Pujara was picked by the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the 2021 auction but he would most probably be benched throughout the tournament as CSK have a lot of options already. They have traded in Robin Uthappa and also Rutuiraj Gaikwad showed a lot of promise last year which will be very tough for Pujara to break in.

Also, if Pujara is picked in the XI, he would be more suited to playing in the top to increase his scoring opportunities while youngsters Jagadeesan and Hari Nishaath are waiting in the wings already. Pujara has also played 30 games in the IPL scoring 390 runs at a career strike rate of 99.7 with the highest score of 51.
