IPL 2021: Updated Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap – After Match 19
Updated - 27 Nov 2023, 04:45 PM
On Sunday (25th April) afternoon, in-form teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) met at Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai) during the 19th match of the IPL 2021. While CSK stretched their winning streak to four, RCB suffered their first defeat of this season, and that too in a big way.
CSK captain MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat first. At the end of the first batting, CSK scored 191/4 (20 overs). While the openers Ruturaj Gaikwad (33) and Faf du Plessis (50) provided a solid start with 74 runs opening partnership, Suresh Raina also played a good cameo of 24 runs. But while CSK were struggling in the death overs, Ravindra Jadeja became the game-changer by adding 37 runs in the last over of that innings (36+1 no ball) as he remained not out on 62 runs off just 28 balls.
RCB pacer Harshal Patel once again had a good time in this game but Jadeja ultimately thrashed him in the final over of that innings. Patel finished that innings with bowling figures of 4-0-51-3.
In reply, RCB only managed to score 122/9 (20 overs) as CSK won that match by 69 runs. Only the opener Devdutt Padikkal (34) and Glenn Maxwell (22) managed to score more than 20 runs in that innings. Only two more players scored double-digit runs in that innings.
Once again, Ravindra Jadeja shined with the ball too as he had bowling figures of 4-1-13-3. Meanwhile, Imran Tahir had bowling figures of 4-0-16-2 in his first game of the IPL 2021.
