Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has expressed excitement ahead of the resumption of the IPL 2021 in the UAE. He stated that the team is in a good position having started the season well. RCB sits in third place with five wins out of seven games.
The Bangalore franchise had a nets session on September 15 ahead of the season. The young Indian guns had a go in the batting session while Chahal honed his bowling skills. Skipper Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj are yet to join the team. They are quarantining after arriving from the UK.
“Obviously the feeling was good. The heat was okay. I am happy with the way I bowled today. I’m very pumped up, especially [because] we’re in a good position on the points table.”
“We have a very good chance to stay on top of the table. When you bowl well in the nets after so long, you feel good. And today, I can say that the old Yuzi is back,” Yuzvendra Chahal confidently stated after RCB’s net session.
Yuzvendra Chahal left out of India’s squad for T20 World Cup
Team India announced its 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE. Ravichandran Ashwin made a surprise return to white-ball formats. India went in with five spinners in order to thrive on the slow tracks in the middle-east.
Yuzvendra Chahal, however, failed to make the squad. He has been out of form in the last few months and the selectors decided to give the youngsters a rope. Mumbai Indians’ rising spinner, Rahul Chahar, was chosen over Chahal while Varun Chakravarthy was also added.
Delhi Capitals’ Axar Patel was the last spinner chosen. His franchise teammate, Shikhar Dhawan, was snubbed for the ICC event. It might be the end of the road, at least in the big tournaments, for Dhawan.
