IPL 2022 Mega Auction: 3 Big Players CSK Might Release. Despite the hurdles and challenges the COVID-19 pandemic posed before the world, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ensured the IPL 2021 was completed without much hindrance.

The tournament had to be halted in May owing to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in India and subsequently had to be moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings won the IPL 2021 after a thumping win against Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs in the final on October 15.

For many of the players, IPL 2021 could be the last time they might have played for the respective franchises.

As it is said ‘ The Show Must Go On’ and so like the Indian Premier League, one of the richest leagues in the sporting world, is set to once again expand the tournament with two new teams.

BCCI had floated an Invitation to Tender (ITT) inviting bids for owning two new teams to be inducted in IPL. Interested parties could buy the tender for a non-refundable ₹110 lakh plus taxes till October 5.

Hence IPL 2022 will see most of the players go under the auctions table as BCCI has planned a mega auction where each team will be able to retain a maximum of three players.

CSK might retain skipper MS Dhoni depending on the retention policy and the player’s stance on it.

Let us look at three big players CSK might release ahead of the IPL auction 2022.

1) Suresh Raina

Raina is Dhoni’s close aide and the duo have tasted enough success together at the franchise.

Raina is CSK’s all-time highest run-scorer in IPL with 4687 runs from 171 innings and also has played the second-most matches in the team after Dhoni.

One thing can be visible is Raina cannot replicate his old and young form in the peek days of his cricket career.

Since he left playing international cricket, there is no practice for the southpaw to maintain his form and that is the reason he was unable to connect the ball in this season.

Raina scored 39 fifties and one hundred in his illustrious IPL career and missed only one season which was last year citing personal reasons.
