IPL 2022 Mega Auction: 3 Big Players Rajasthan Royals (RR) Might Release. Despite the hurdles and challenges the COVID-19 pandemic posed before the world, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ensures the IPL 2021 was completed without much hindrance.

The tournament had to be halted in May owing to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in India and subsequently had to be moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings won the IPL 2021 after a thumping win against Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs in the final on October 15.

IPL 2022 Mega Auction: 3 Big Players Rajasthan Royals (RR) Might Release

For many of the players, IPL 2021 could be the last time they might have played for the respective franchises.

As it is said ‘ The Show Must Go On’ and so like the Indian Premier League, one of the richest leagues in the sporting world, is set to once again expand the tournament with two new teams.

BCCI had floated an Invitation to Tender (ITT) inviting bids for owning two new teams to be inducted in IPL. Interested parties could buy the tender for a non-refundable ₹110 lakh plus taxes till October 5.

Hence IPL 2022 will see most of the players go under the auctions table as BCCI has planned a mega auction where each team will be able to retain a maximum of three players.

Rajasthan Royals have not won the IPL trophy since they lifted the inaugural title in 2008 under the captaincy of Shane Warne.

This season they collapsed in the final matches of the league stage despite making some room to qualify for the playoffs.

The Royals were without the services of England players Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer in the second leg of IPL 2021.

Rajasthan Royals Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara will have to chalk out the best plans with the team’s think-tank to chase and release the players ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction.

Let us look at the three big players Rajasthan Royals might realeas before IPL 2022 auctions.

1) Ben Stokes

The England all-rounder had to leave IPL 2021 in the middle of the first leg after sustaining a finger injury.

Stokes was unavailable for the second leg as he is currently under an indefinite break from the game to prioritise his mental health.

Stokes was purchased by RR for a huge sum of 12.50 crore during IPL 2018 auction.

Stokes has not delivered for Rajasthan with the expectations he brought with his international stature as he has made only 604 runs and picked 16 wickets from three seasons before IPL 2021.
