New Zealand and Ireland go head to head in the third and final T20I of the series in Belfast on July 2022 to end the series. The Kiwis are leading the series 2-0 and are eyeing to complete a whitewash by winning the third game as well.

Ireland, on the other hand, have the tough task of denying the Kiwis from doing the same. Ireland lost a T20I series against India heading into the series against New Zealand. They lost the ODI series 3-0 and are now trailing the T20I series as well.

We started pretty well, had a good powerplay. They batted well in the last 10 and set an above par score. We didn’t bat well in our powerplay, and a bit of a shame about how it finished. We got a couple of good partnerships in the middle, but nothing substantial” lamented the Irish skipper after losing the first T20I.

New Zealand, on the other hand, played some really good cricket in the first two games. They came up with a far better performance in the T20I after winning the ODI games by narrow margins. Mitchell Santner is leading the side in theT20Is as Kane Williamson has been rested from the series following a long-standing elbow injury. He also missed the second Test against England following a covid scare.

“The way Neesham and Glenn played was helpful on a niggly wicket. This Irish team is pretty good, they gave us a good fight in the ODI series and played well today as well. Lockie (Ferguson) did well, we aren’t very keen to play him in the nets but today on a sluggish pitch he showed how good he is with his change of pace, with those leg cutters” said Santner after the first T20I win.
