Ireland face New Zealand in the second T20I on Wednesday, July 20. They need to win the game to level the series and take it to the decider on Friday, July 22. The remaining two games will be played in Belfast after Dublin hosted the three ODIs.
Ireland played better cricket in the ODIs but ended up on the losing side. They lost all the three ODIs by close margins and not before giving a tough fight to the Kiwis. Skipper Andrew Balbirnie was dejected with another loss as he blamed the lack of runs from the batters in the chase. Chasing 174 to win, the Irish were bowled out for 142 as they lost by 31 runs.
They need to find wins to consistently play against the top teams around the world. They are possibly the best associate nation playing the sport at the moment. However, their game still needs a massive transition.
New Zealand, on the other hand, found a way to come back to winning ways after their Test series loss against England. They are currently sixth. Glenn Phillips, James Neesham and Lockie Ferguson ensured a comfortable victory for the Kiwis in the first T20I.
