New Zealand face Ireland to win the T20I series 3-0 in the final T20I in Belfast on Friday, July 22. They won the first two games to lead the series 2-0 and now are looking for a clean sweep. Ireland, have a mountain top climb as they look to avoid yet another clean sweep after the India series.
Ireland as a side have been playing some competitive cricket. However, they have just not been able to win games consistently enough while playing some of the top sides in international cricket. They are possibly the best associate nation playing the sport at the moment. However, their game still needs a massive transition. Skipper Andrew Balbirnie has been motivating his team. However, he has been way short of runs in recent times and needs to lead by example.
“We started pretty well, had a good powerplay. They batted well in the last 10 and set an above par score. We didn’t bat well in our powerplay, and a bit of a shame about how it finished. We got a couple of good partnerships in the middle, but nothing substantial” he said after the first T20I loss.
It was a big win for New Zealand to start the T20I series on a good note after the ODI series win. The Kiwis won the ODI games by the barest of margins and thus are looking to make up for it in the T20I series.
