Sarfraz Nawaz declares Jasprit Bumrah the best bowler in the world
The Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah recently had a remarkable Test tour of Australia, and he could have made a bigger impact in Dubai if he were available for the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the tournament due to back issues, and Nawaz lamented that fans across the globe missed an opportunity to see the Indian pacer's brilliance.
Sarfraz Nawaz was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, “I must tell you, he is the best bowler in the world today. Unfortunately, he's not fit. Otherwise, we could have seen more of him, you know, like he did in Australia. Outstanding job. It's a shame that he's not fit for this Champions Trophy.”
Meanwhile, Sarfraz also acknowledged the rapid rise of Indian cricket, for which, he credited their strategic approach of having different teams and captains across the formats. The former Pakistan cricketer also highlighted how India’s strong bench strength allows them to rotate players, giving youngsters a platform to shine while keeping senior players fresh.
They are changing a lot of things: Sarfraz Nawaz on Indian cricket's progress
Sarfraz Nawaz signed off by saying, “Indian cricket is doing well because they are changing a lot of things. They have different teams, different players, and different captains for different formats. There are some outstanding players in T20Is and ODIs. They have good bench strength and can afford to rest some seniors to give youngsters a chance.”
Notably, the Men in Blue have already qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after thrashing Bangladesh and Pakistan in their first two group matches. Despite Bumrah’s absence, the Indian team looks strong and is one of the strong favorites to win the trophy.
This Indian team looks ruthless: Lalchand Rajput
Recently, former Indian cricketer and team manager Lalchand Rajput declared the Men in Blue as the “ruthless” team and backed Rohit Sharma's team to win the Champions Trophy easily. However, the knockouts won’t be as easy as the group stages, as they will face either Australia, New Zealand, South Africa or Afghanistan in the semifinals and finals.
Rajput was quoted as saying by PTI, “This Indian team looks ruthless. They try to dominate and win every game. They don't want to give the opponents a chance to come back into the game. That is the attitude; and the way they are playing, I think they should win the Champions Trophy convincingly.”
Notably, the Indian team will play their final group match against the Black Caps on March 2 in Dubai.
