Baba Indrajith Ignored Despite Scoring Big In Domestic Cricket

The 28-year-old has been scoring runs in red-ball cricket for amusement.Baba Indrajith has consistently scored runs in big games and difficult situations for South Zone, whether it was in the Ranji Trophy or the Duleep Trophy, but he has been passed over for both the India A tours this year, the New Zealand series at home a few months ago, and the recently finished tour of Bangladesh as well. 

Indrajith has proven that he is a major match performer and is capable of scoring runs whenever the team needs them by amassing 396 runs in four innings at a staggering average of 99. He followed it up with a century in the Duleep Trophy final. However, the name is still absent from the squad rosters, and irritated Indrajith is still unsure of the true cause of everything.

Baba Indrajith Disappointed By Not Being Able To Get The Break

Speaking to Sunil Doshi, a former selection panel member, after the Duleep Trophy tonne, Baba Indrajith said that he was informed that he is on the radar but that being passed over for the Bangladesh series as well was undoubtedly discouraging for the gloveman. 

“I have been doing very well since 2016 at the First Class level but somehow I am not able to get the break. Every time I think I will be there this time around, I get disappointed in not seeing my name there. I don’t know the reason either,” said Indrajith, who made his IPL debut this year playing for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Dinesh Karthik, a seasoned India wicket-keeper batter and Indrajith’s teammate from Tamil Nadu, has since come out in support of him, stating that selectors should take his performances seriously because he has been a reliable run-getter and shouldn’t be denied a chance to play for India A.

“It’s about time that the selectors have a strong look at his performances and provide him the opportunity of moving up the ladder. He’s done a lot , no way they can deny him the opportunity of playing for India A at least #QualityCredentials,” Karthik wrote on Twitter. 

Indrajith, who was released by KKR prior to the IPL 2023 auction, will be attempting to find takers once more and use his red-ball form in the greatest T20 tournament in the world.
