James Anderson Joins Nathan Lyon To Become The Bowler To Dismiss Virat Kohli The Most Times In Test Cricket

England’s legendary pacer James Anderson dismissed Virat Kohli for the 7th time in Tests, thereby joining Nathan Lyon as the bowler to dismiss the Indian skipper the most number of times in Test cricket. He achieved the feat on Day 1 of the third Test at Headingley against India.

Anderson continued his dominance over Kohli this series, having dismissed him for a first-ball duck in the Test at Trent Bridge. Although the pacer couldn’t dismiss India’s premier batsman in the 2018 tour, he certainly has the wood over Kohli this time around.

Having come in to bat with India at 4/2, Kohli had to take his time and build a partnership with Rohit Sharma. However, the 32-year-old Kohli continues his slump in form, failing to score a fifty in international cricket for the fiftieth innings in a row.

Anderson made the best use of the conditions on a gloomy morning at Headingley, sucking Kohli into a ball outside off. Unable to resist the temptation, Kohli drove at the delivery that induced an edge right into the safe hands of Jos Buttler.

This is the seventh time Anderson dismissed Kohli, and only Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has managed to get the Indian batsman’s wicket as many times. Stuart Broad, Moeen Ali, Pat Cummins, and Ben Stokes come next best with five dismissals each.
