England Test skipper Joe Root and champion Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah have made significant gains in ICC Men’s Test Players Rankings following their stupendous performance in the first Test in Nottingham.

Joe Root led the English batting singlehandedly in the first Test as he ended up as the top-scorer in both innings. The champion English batter scored 64 in the first innings before smashing a classy 109 in the second to help the home side take a lead.

The dual knocks have earned Root as many as 49 rating points and the former No.1 ranked batter has leapfrogged his Indian counterpart, Virat Kohli to claim the 4th spot in the Test ranking for batters.

Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, was at his lethal best in the first Test as the right-hander hopped the ball corners at high pace to bamboozle the English batters. Bumrah claimed four wickets in the first innings and he went one step ahead in the second as he notched up his sixth five-wicket-haul in Test cricket to finish with match figures of 9/110.
