Jonny Bairstow Awarded The ICC Men's Player Of The Month For June 2022
Jonny Bairstow of England has been named ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June 2022, capping up a stellar recent run of form.
Bairstow won the prized monthly accolade over England teammate Joe Root and New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell after the veteran delivered a stunning century in successive matches against New Zealand.
Despite a sluggish start in the first game of the three-match series, Bairstow hit a match-winning 136 on the final day of the second Test in Nottingham to help England chase down 299 for victory.
It was the second-fastest century ever achieved by an English player in Test cricket, and the 32-year-old followed it up with efforts of 162 and 71* in the series finale in Leeds to help his side secure another exciting victory and an overwhelming series sweep.

Bairstow, meanwhile, has shown no signs of slowing down, scoring back-to-back hundreds in the rescheduled fifth and final Test against India in Birmingham earlier this month to help England earn more vital World Test Championship points. Bairstow has had a wonderful run of form recently, and he was overjoyed to accept the prize.
“I would like to thank the fans for voting for me as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month,” Bairstow said.
“It has been an incredible five weeks for England. It has been a positive start to our summer with four excellent wins against high-class opposition in New Zealand and India. We are enjoying our cricket as a team and playing with clarity and positivity.”

Bairstow will feature in the ODI series against India next.
