The remaining two T20 internationals between Sri Lanka and India in Colombo will go ahead as planned as per the latest developments. Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya testing positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday postponed the matches to the 28th and 29th. However, sources as per ANI have confirmed it would move forward, with the tourists in the lead.

BCCI confirmed via Twitter that Krunal Pandya tested positive in the rapid antigen conducted in the morning. Furthermore, acccording to ESPN Cricinfo, all eight members are part of the Indian contingent. Thus, all those players underwent another round of COVID-19 tests to identify more infected cases, if any. But later in the day, it emerged all of them returned negative for the deadly virus.

But all eight – i.e Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Manish Pandey, Ishan Kishan, Krishnappa Gowtham, and Chahar, would not feature in Wednesday’s game or in the rest of the series. Nevertheless, it is yet to come out where Krunal might have contracted the outbreak since Sri Lanka’s bio-bubble in-charge person, Arjuna De Silva, told ESPNCricinfo that there are no reports of the bio-bubble breach.

Meanwhile, rumours have also done rounds of Bhuvneshwar Kumar replacing Shikhar Dhawan as the skipper for the last two T20Is. With Dhawan in isolation as well, the 31-year old, the vice-captain, could step in to captain the visitors. But their chances of sealing the series on Wednesday looks bleak as several key players will miss the encounter.
