Earlier this year India toured South Africa for a 3 Test match test series and as many ODIs. After winning the first test, they lost all the games on the tour on what was Rahul Dravid’s first overseas assignment as becoming the full-time head coach.

Rohit Sharma is expected to lead the side against South Africa who was recently named as the all format, full-time captain after former captain Virat Kohli stepped aside from the role in all formats of the game.

Rohit Sharma since becoming the full-time captain has not lost a single match in any format. It includes series wins against the West Indies, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

The fans would want that the same streak continues against South Africa as well.

The series may see selectors giving chances to some young and fringe players as they look to build a side for the T20 World Cup later this year in Australia.

India is scheduled to tour Ireland for a two-match T20 series after the South Series gets over.
