England players are looking at a possibility of staying away from home for as many as four months later this year. With the T20 World Cup in September to the end of the Ashes series until mid-January next, the players will have to be away from home for four months. With the threat of COVID-19 still around, former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has given his support to the players who are willing to opt out of the Ashes.

A Daily Mail report said how the England players will be forced to stay away from their families for a length of four months due to international commitments. Meanwhile, in these tough times staying away from families might be tough and this is what Kevin Pietersen eluded to through his tweet.

“Any ENG player that pulls out of this Ashes, if they seriously can’t see their families for FOUR MONTHS, has my full backing. Families are the most important part of a players make up. And even more so in the current climate! FOUR MONTHS with no family on Ashes Tour? “ tweeted Pietersen.

England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler had no answer when he was asked if he will travel during the meantime with his family.

“I don’t know the answer. Covid is an ever-changing situation and Australia have some quite strict policies. That would be a huge challenge, especially when you are accustomed to being able to take your family.”

The five-Test match Ashes series between England and Australia will start as late as December. Thus Cricket Australia has enough time in their hands to think about a possibility to ease the travel constraints for the English players.
