Indian opener KL Rahul has begun his journey back to full fitness after suffering a thigh strain ahead of the 2-match Test series against New Zealand last week.

Suryakumar Yadav replaced him in the side after scans revealed he will need time to recover from the injury. However, it has now been confirmed by the Karnataka batsman himself that he is on the road to recovery. Taking to Twitter, the 29-year-old posted a series of pictures of himself working out in the gym.

The tour begins with the Test series from December 17, followed by 3 ODIs and 4 T20Is. For now, preparations are being made to ensure the players’ safety regarding the tour following the emergence of a new covid-19 variant called the Omicron in South Africa.

The Cricket South Africa (CSA) board is making arrangements for a strict bio-bubble and has assured the BCCI that proper protocols will be in place when Virat Kohli‘s men arrive. As for India’s travel, a chartered flight will be used to travel from Mumbai to Johannesburg.
