Former India batsman, Kris Srikkanth has picked Sunrisers Hyderabad spinner, Rashid Khan as his most valuable player in the history of the Indian Premier League. Kris Srikkanth took to Twitter to lavish praise on the Afghanistan leg-spinner for his stupendous record in the IPL, and for his another economical performance against Mumbai Indians, on Saturday.

Rashid Khan has picked 79 wickets in his 65-match IPL career, at an average of 20.27 and an economy of 6.21 – not only the leggie is frugal with the ball, but also regularly takes wickets, which makes him an indispensable member of the SRH side.

He uses his variations smartly, with his quick arm action it becomes extremely challenging for batters to pick him off his hand; hence they try to pick him off the pitch. But with the quickness in his deliveries, by the time the batter deciphers the turn of the ball, it’s already too late.

Rashid Khan, 22, has already captained his country and became a legend and the most sought-after bowler in the shortest format around the world.

On Saturday, against the mighty Mumbai Indians batting order, he returned with figures of 0/22, halting their charge in the middle-overs, which is what Kris Srikkanth lauds about, that helped SRH restrict the opposition to 150.

In the tournament so far, he has picked up 4 wickets at just 16.00 conceding only 5.33 runs per over – despite the brilliant of Khan, SRH has lost all 3 games due to their weak lower middle-order.

Chepauk becoming the epicentre for thrillers: Kris Srikkanth

The Chennai-born Kris Srikkanth is delighted to see that the MA Chidambaram Stadium or the Chepauk has witnessed nail-biting finishes this season due to the low-scoring nature of the pitch.

So far, 5 matches have been played at the Chepauk, 4 of which have been won by the team batting first. While the only other result which went in favour of the team batting second was due to a freakish batsman in AB de Villiers, who played a blinder against Mumbai in the season opener.

Teams are yet to decipher the proper template to bat in Chennai with batting becoming extremely challenging in the second half of the innings. However, both Mumbai and Hyderabad perhaps have given a glimpse of how things will go further: start strongly and utilize the powerplay to the fullest.

“@rashidkhan_19 you are by far the most valuable player in the IPL ever! Absolute amazing bowling which helped the @SunRisers to restrict @mipaltan to 150 odd! Chepaulk becoming the epicenter for thrillers this #IPL2021 @SRHvMI,” the former opener tweeted.

Besides, five more matches are left to be played in Chennai this season, and fans would be hoping to see more such close finishes – there hasn’t been a super over in the tournament yet.
