South Africa Head Coach Mark Boucher has stated that the current Proteas captain Quinton de Kock could play another 100 matches for South Africa in the test format. The first test between Pakistan and South Africa started today and in the process, de Kock made his 50th appearance in test matches for South Africa. Former Wicketkeeper Mark Boucher stated that de Kock could go on to make the most appearences for South Africa in the longest format.
Mark Boucher is the second most capped player for South Africa in Tests after making his debut in 1997. He went on to play 147 tests while the most capped player Jacques Kallis played 166 games for South Africa. Mark boucher was a terrific keeper and one of the most reliable keepers in the world. He has an oustanding record with the gloves and also played a lot of handy knocks with the bat averaging around 30.
Mark Boucher Says Oppositions Hope de Kock’S Out Of Form
Mark Boucher Praised the current skipper Quinton de Kock as a very special player and he can take the game from the opponent as well very quickly. Boucher added that giving him the captaincy might be an extra resposnsibility for him but he is very happy to be give that role to de Kock. He also added that the support staff will be helping him out in all the departments wherever needed.
“Quinny is a special cricketer. He is the type of player opposition hope doesn’t get into good form because he can take the game away from anyone very quickly,” said Mark Boucher. “Being a captain is an extra [responsibility] we have added on to him. We’re trying to help him out as much as we can in that department. But I’m very happy he has taken on that role,” he added.
De Kock’s Captaincy Can Grow Him Better
Mark Boucher also told that it is tough times for De Kock who will be handling both the captaincy as well as batting pressure but he wants De Kock to make full use of the oppurtunity and grow himself. “I know it’s tough at times, especially if your performances aren’t exactly where you want them to be. Hopefully, we can get the best of Quinny in this series. It can only be good for him as a person, a captain, and also for the team,” said Boucher.
South Africa managed only a mere total of 220 in the first innings but Pakistan looks struggling after losing four wickets at the end of first day with just 33 runs on board in the first test at Karachi today.
