Mayanti Langer, all-rounder Stuart Binny’s wife and a renowned anchor, on Sunday, posted an Instagram story which as got fans talking about. She recalled her husband’s maiden Test tour to England in 2014 by sharing a photo of Stuart Binny with a frustrated looking James Anderson.

The right-hander made 78 runs in the second innings of his debut Test 7 years ago at Trent Bridge. 78 – the same score on which India were bowled out at Headingley in their first innings a few days ago; Anderson was the key wrecker-in-chief as he took 3 wickets in his opening spell setting the tone for the rest of the pacers to bundle India out for 78.

While Langer didn’t post any caption or tagged anyone to insinuate her opinions, fans on social media pondered if she was taking a dig at the current Indian side which lost in Leeds by an innings and 76 runs.

Stuart Binny, son of 1983 World Cup winner Roger Binny, played 6 Tests in his career – he averaged 21.56 with the bat, and managed to take only 3 wickets. He featured in 14 ODIs and 3 T20I, the last of which came in March 2016, before Hardik Pandya emerged as India’s premier seam-bowling allrounder.

If your top 6 or 7 don’t do the job, then that extra guy is no guarantee of bailing you out: Virat Kohli

India have missed the services of a seam-bowling allrounder on their overseas tours since Hardik Pandya is not allowed to bowl longer spells due to his back injury issues. That has meant Ravindra Jadeja plays as the all-rounder, while keeping R Ashwin on the bench.

After the loss in Leeds, Kohli banished the suggestion of playing an extra batsman. He reckons going in with six specialist batters won’t be of much help than with five in the eleven.

“I don’t believe in that balance. I have never believed in that balance. Either you can try and save a defeat or you can try and win a game. And we have drawn games in the past with a similar number of batters in the team. So if your top 6 or 7 don’t do the job, then that extra guy is no guarantee of bailing you out every time.

With the series level, both teams travel back to London. The fourth Test at the Oval starts on September 2.
