Mohammad Azharuddin Assures Former India Player Noel David That HCA Will Pay For His Kidney Surgery

Mohammed Azharuddin, the president of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) met with former India player Noel David and has assured him that the state association will pay for his medical expenses.

The 51-year-old spinner played four one-day internationals for India in 1997 against West Indies and Sri Lanka. He originally hails from Puducherry and later his family settled in Hyderabad, for whom he played 35 First-Class and 48 List-A matches from 1992-2002.

He made his India debut in West Indies in 1997 when he was flown into the Caribbean as a replacement for injured Javagal Srinath. He picked 3/21 on his debut and finished his short career with four wickets in all. For Hyderabad, he picked 51 FC wickets and 36 List-A scalps. He scored 2 centuries in his 1379 runs in FC matches with the best score of 207*.

Mohammed Azharuddin Assure Noel David Of Taking Care Of Medical Expenses Including Kidney Replacement Surgery

Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president Mohammed Azharuddin on Monday met former India player Noel David and assured him that the state body will take care of his health expenses, including the kidney transplant surgery cost.

“Today, Mohammed Azharuddin, President – Hyderabad Cricket Association met Noel David at Apollo Hospital. Noel is recuperating after undergoing a kidney transplant surgery this month in Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills. The visit could not have happened earlier because Noel had to be kept in a sterile environment post-surgery.

“Mohammed Azharuddin met Dr. Subramanyam, Nephrologist and enquired about the surgery and post-operative care,” a media statement issued by the HCA said.

“In a meeting with Tejaswi Rao, COO of Apollo Jubilee Hills, Azharuddin reiterated that HCA will meet the cost of Noel’s surgery and promised help for Noel to meet his personal expenses,” the statement said.

David later became the chief selector of the Hyderabad state team and chairman of the Junior Selection Committee. He played his last ODI for India in 1997 and during his playing days, Sunil Gavaskar reportedly called him the best fielder in the Indian team at that time.
