The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest rankings on Wednesday, March 22. Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj lost his top spot in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, and Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood became the new No. 1 bowler even without playing in the ongoing three-match ODI series.

Mohammed Siraj slipped to third place in the ranking behind Hazlewood and New Zealand’s Trent Boult following his poor performance in the second ODI, as he conceded 37 runs in just 3 overs without picking up any wickets. Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head smashed him all around the park as India lost by 10 wickets against Australia in Visakhapatnam.

Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood was sidelined from the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) and ODI series against India due to an injury. The 32-year-old attained the top position for the first time in his career with 713 points. The left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc shared the joint-third position with Siraj after his eight wickets in the two matches against India.

Kane Williamson Moved To Second Place ICC Test Batters Rankings

Former New Zealand Test skipper Kane Williamson has moved four spots to take second place in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings after his recent impressive performances in the Test series against England and Sri Lanka. The Kiwi batter improved a total of 51 rating points to reach 883 points, just 32 behind the No. 1 ranked batter, Marnus Labuschagne.

Henry Nicholls, who was involved in a triple-century partnership with Williamson, has made big gains in the Test rankings after his 200 not out. The left-handed batter jumped 20 places to attain the 27th position. Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne secured the 10th rank after doing well with the bat in the last series, while Dinesh Chandimal has moved up two slots to the 17th.
