When MS Dhoni took over as captain of the Indian team, there were plenty of veteran players in the set up nearing retirement. At the same time, young talents were also waiting to find their places in the set-up. Owing to fielding and other concerns, MS Dhoni replaced a lot of veterans with youngsters and struck by the side. He did not believe in chopping and changing much and backed his players.
Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, in an interview to AFP, said that Dhoni was a cool captain outside but an aggressive player. He also said that Dhoni handled the team very well as he changed the team from seniors to juniors and changed the culture of the Indian cricket team.
‘He was such a cool captain on the outside, but from the inside such an aggressive player,” said former Pakistan skipper Misbah, who also paid tribute to Dhoni’s qualities as a tactician and man-manager,” Misbah-ul-Haq told AFP.
“He was such a ‘shrewd’, you could say, captain — the way he handled the team, the way he just developed the team and changed the team from seniors (senior players), brought up some juniors.
“He changed the whole culture of the team, the whole face of Indian cricket – a wonderful servant of the game.”
