Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen recalled the time when India batting hero MS Dhoni smacked him for a huge six.

Pietersen, who has played under Dhoni’s captaincy at Rising Pune Supergiants, went down the memory lane when he visited the Kennington Oval Stadium in London, the venue for the next Test between India and England.

The last time India won a Test series was in 2007 under Rahul Dravid’s leadership where they won the second Test in Nottingham to take a 1-0 lead. India had to force a draw against England in the third and final Test at Oval.

Dinesh Karthik (91) and Sachin Tendulkar (82) laid the foundation for India with MS Dhoni scoring blistering 92 as India posted a mammoth total of 664 in the first innings. Dhoni smacked four sixes around the park and the match was remembered for leg-spinner Anil Kumble’s only Test hundred (110).

In a video released on Betway’s YouTube channel, Pietersen was seen walking around the Oval pitch where he narrated the entire incident of how Dhoni smashed him a huge six before he got his wicket.

“Alastair Cook was under a high ball (at deep square leg). And guess who the batter was? Mr. Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He’d knocked me for a monster six. Almost went out of the ground into the Thames, gone. I held the next one back. (Pointing to his pocket) MS, I am afraid to say, you’re in there, I am not in your pocket,” Pietersen said.

The match eventually ended in a draw as India won the series by 1-0 and after 14 years they aim to win another Test series in England. The current series is tied at 1-1 after England bounced back at Headingley to respond to India’s victory at Lord’s.
