Shams Mulani To Lead As Mumbai Announce White-Ball Squad For Oman Tour

The Indian domestic giants Mumbai have announced the squad for their white-ball series of Oman which is scheduled to take place within this month. A couple of players from the Rajasthan Royals have been released in order to be part of the upcoming series.

Earlier last month, Oman had officially sent a letter to Mumbai Cricket Association to come to play a limited-overs series against their national side. This would serve as good preparation for Oman who will play the qualifiers for the 2021 T20 World Cup.

The selection committee, led by Salil Ankola, chose a 14-member squad for the series which consists of three ODI’s and as many T20’s. Amol Muzumdar will be the head coach and this is his first assignment. Speaking about the tour, Ankola stated it will serve as good preparation for the domestic season that lies ahead.

“It’s good that Oman invited us for this tour. Due to rain, no cricket has been possible in Mumbai. This tour will give our boys good match practice. It will help us prepare for the limited overs leg of the domestic season.”

“Amol has done a fantastic job to conduct the camp keeping COVID-19 protocols in mind. The fitness level of the boys has really improved due to the camp. Mulani has captained the Mumbai under-19. He is a talented player. He will soon play in the IPL too,” Ankola stated.

Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal released by Rajasthan Royals for Mumbai’s tour

Rajashtan Royals’ players Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal were released by the franchise ahead of the 2021 IPL which resumes from next month. Since a few first-choice players are in England for the Test series, the state team requested RR to make the aforementioned players available.

“The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) urged RR to release these players from their camp for this tour, and the franchise agreed in the interest of cricket. They will join RR in UAE after this tour,” Ankola stated to TOI.

The T20’s will kick off the tour, and they’ll be played on August 22,24 and 26. The 50-over matches are scheduled for August 29,31, and September 2.
