India and SunRisers Hyderabad left-arm seamer T Natarajan has emerged as one of the brightest prospects for the national team in recent times. T Natarajan made his first appearance in international cricket last year on the back of his promising outing in IPL 2020. But at present, with an injured knee, the 30-year old has pinned his focus by the time IPL 2021 resumes in the UAE.

T Natarajan’s knee injury took place during IPL 2021, cutting his tournament short as a result of the same. Hence, the Salem-born cricketer had to rule himself out of the competition and undergo surgery. It also forced out of the limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka The left-arm seamer could not produce extraordinary performances as he did in IPL 2020, taking only two wickets in as many games at 34.50.

T Natarajan revealed his progress has been excellent after the surgery, having started his training. The SunRisers Hyderabad cricketer hopes to bowl in full tilt by the end of July and is concentrating on recovering fully by the time IPL 2021 restarts in the UAE. He also feels that the tournament’s postponement has been a blessing in disguise for him.

“I am progressing well after the surgery. I have started training slowly. I will start bowling at full tilt in the nets by the end of this month. My focus right now is on recovering fully and returning by the time the IPL restarts. The fact that the IPL got suspended when it did has turned out to be a good thing in the end. None of it was in my hands of course,” Natarjan said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

T Natarajan further stated that his focus is only on the recovery and not the T20 World Cup later this year in the UAE. The 30-year old feels his chance would come at the T20 World Cup if he performs well in IPL 2021 and his recovery is on track.

“I am not thinking about the T20 World Cup right now. I am thinking more about my recovery. If I do well in the IPL, the chance to be selected for the T20 World Cup will come on its own. That is my belief. But for that, my recovery needs to be spot on,” he added.
