On Thursday, January 26, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the England Women’s National Cricket Team all-rounder Nat Sciver as the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2022.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) had shortlisted four players for the prestigious ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2022 award in December – Shabnim Ismail from South Africa, Amelia Kerr from New Zealand, Alyssa Healy from Australia and Nat Sciver from England – and in the end, the star England all-rounder managed to bag the award.

Nat Sciver had a memorable 2022 as she was consistent with her performances in the 17 matches she played in the ODI format during the year. She smashed 833 runs in ODIs in 2022 at an amazing average of 59.50 and a good strike rate of 91.43.

She notched up 2 centuries and 5 half-centuries during the year in the format. With the ball, she bagged 11 wickets at an average of 46.09, an economy of 4.92 and a strike rate of 56.1.

Nat Sciver finished the year as the second-highest run-getter in ODIs, just behind Laura Wolvaardt who scored 882 runs in 18 outings at an average of 49.00 and a strike rate of 78.96, including one century and 8 half-centuries.

The 30-year-old reserved her best for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 as she smashed 436 runs in the tournament at an average of over 70. She finished third in the overall run charts behind the Australia duo of Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes but recorded a better average than the two.

The star all-rounder opted to take a break later in the year, but returned to the side for the series against West Indies and registered huge scores of 90 and 85 in two matches of the three-match series to help her side seal a 3-0 win.

Her best was witnessed by the fans in the final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022, where she slammed unbeaten 148 runs off 121 balls, including 15 fours and 1 six, against a strong Australian unit.

Nat Sciver played a sensational knock, but it wasn’t enough for England to chase down a humongous 357-run target posted by Australia in the final at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
