England takes on the Netherlands for one final time in the series at the VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen on July 22, Wednesday. The visitors are leading the series 2-1 and will be looking to complete a whitewash. The hosts, on the other hand, would look to avoid the same.

The NED vs ENG series is a good opportunity for the England batters to get some good hits out in the park ahead of their full-fledged series against India next month. They play a Test match followed by a three-match T20I and ODI series against the visiting Indian side.

England batters scored 438/4 in the first ODI and chased down a target of 236 in 36.1 overs in the second. Jos Buttler after the game said that England would continue batting aggressively to breach the 500-run mark in the series and they have one match to do so.

Netherlands skipper Pieter Seelaar announced his retirement from international cricket after missing the last game with a back injury. Scott Edwards led the side in his absence in the second ODI and will need to do it again in the third.

“Since 2020, my back problems got worse to such an extent that – much to my regret – I am no longer able to give everything I’ve got,” Seelaar was quoted as saying on television during the 2nd ODI.

The final ODI starts at 11 am local time and the weather predicted is pleasant with partial sunshine at the Amstelveen ground. The previous match was interrupted due to rain which resulted in overs being reduced. There is no such prediction for the final game as there is no threat of rain.

The venue has hosted 27 ODIs to date. Recently the Netherlands played three ODI games against the West Indies in May. The average first innings score at this venue is 232 which drops down to 198 in the second innings. 15 matches have been won by the team batting first while 10 chasing. England won the second ODI chasing at this venue.
