Young and upcoming middle-order batsman Priyam Garg has been taking giant strides in the Indian cricketing circle in the past 2 years. And in another vindication to his growing stature, Garg has now been thrust with the responsibility of leading the Uttar Pradesh side in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

Garg, who led India to the finals of the U-19 World Cup in South Africa last year, will have a chance to further hone his leadership and man-management skills when he leads a star-studded Uttar Pradesh line-up boasting of superstars like Suresh Raina and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Priyam Garg boasts an impressive record in domestic cricket. In 19 List A games, the talented batsman from UP has racked up 707 runs at an average of 47.13 and a strike-rate of 90.87 with the help of four half-centuries and two three-figure scores.

His record in First-Class cricket is no less impressive. In 16 innings, the 20-year-old has 867 runs against his name at a more than a healthy average of 66.69 including five half-centuries and two hundred.

Priyam has also proven his worth in the shortest format of the game. Having been picked for Rs 1.9 crore by SunRisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, the 20-year-old played a few brilliant knocks while batting in the middle-order, including his maiden IPL 50 against the Chennai Super Kings.

Garg will kickstart his captaincy stint when Uttar Pradesh locks horns with Punjab in an Elite Group A fixture in Alur on January 10, 2021.
