England Cricket Team had a torrid start on the first day of the 2nd Test Match against New Zealand. However, Harry Brook alongside Joe Root came out all guns blazing. The visitors were asked to bat first and managed to score 315-3 in 65 overs before rain intervened. Brook continued his purple patch as the right-handed batter scored an unbeaten 184 runs in 169 balls where he struck 24 fours & 5 sixes. Brook was quite fearless on a green pitch where pacers were getting ample help.

Kiwi skipper Tim Southee would be worried as his all bowlers were taken to the cleaners. Joe Root also smashed a century where he scored his 29th Test ton equaling Don Bradman’s tally of 29 centuries. It won’t be wrong to say that England’s ‘Bazball’ looks invincible at the moment.

Harry Brook was asked about how he approached the innings.

“We lost three early wickets, which isn’t ideal, but then I came out and tried to counter-punch a bit and be as positive as we could be. Thankfully it came off,” said Harry Brook.

Exciting Contest on Cards

Day 2 would be quite pivotal for New Zealand, if England manages to score 500 runs then it would be quite tough for New Zealand to make a comeback. The duo of James Anderson-Stuart Broad are in lethal form where scoring against them won’t be easy for the hosts. Perhaps, Tim Southee needs to apply attacking fields rather than defensive tactics.

England skipper Ben Stokes has often tipped that Harry Brook would be the next global superstar. The peculiarity of Harry Brook is that he has a wide range of shots which makes him a dangerous asset. England fans would be delighted after seeing their former skipper Joe Root hit form.
