Christchurch will host the second NZ vs SL 2nd ODI on March 28. The match starts from 6.30 am local time which is 2 pm local time. New Zealand won the first ODI by 198 runs and are leading the series 1-0, Sri Lanka needs to win the second ODI to level the series. 

The Kiwi top-order of Fin Allen (51) Will Young (26), Daryl Mitchell (47), Glenn Phillips (39) and Rachin Ravindra (49) all contributed to the total. Chamika Karunaratne took four wickets with the ball as Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara took two each.

Sri Lanka registered one of their lowest-ever totals in ODIs as chasing 275 to win, they were bowled out for just 76. Henry Shipley picked up four wickets as Daryl Mitchell and Blair Tickener took two each.

Dasun Shakana will lead Sri Lanka while Tom Latham will lead the Kiwis in this ODI series. Senior players Kane Williamson and Tim Southee have been rested for this series. Pacer Lockie Ferguson who was ruled out of the first T20I with a hamstring injury has joined the KKR camp along with fellow pacer Tim Southee.

Sri Lanka and New Zealand have played 100 ODIs till date. The Kiwis have won 50 games while the Lankans won 41. 8 matches ended in no-result and one game ended in a tie. 

The 2023 ODI World Cup will be a 10-team tournament with the top seven teams having already qualified. India being the hosts have earned a direct qualification. The final team will be between Sri Lanka, South Africa and West Indies who will earn a direct qualification. The Islanders need to win the series to stay in the race for direct qualification.
