This is the first T20I bilateral series between the two teams. Both the teams have played just one ODI match before this series. Kiwis are ranked third in the latest T20I rankings while UAE are placed 16th.
Tim Southee will lead the side in the three-match series. Kyle Jamieson is also back in the side following his recovery from a stress fracture. He missed the IPL after being signed up by CSK at the IPL 2023 auction. New Zealand took on Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the last two T20I series. They won the series against Sri Laka 2-1. The PAK vs NZ T20I series was tied at 2-2.
UAE lost to Afghanistan in the last T20I series they played. UAE will be led by senior batsman Muhammad Waseem. Junaid Siddiqui, Zahoor Khan, Vrittya Aravind, Basil Hameed, and Ayan Afzal Khan are some of the familiar names in the side. Several of their players played in the ILT20 league which was played earlier this year.

All three matches will be played in Dubai. Several Kiwi players are well-known for the conditions they are expected to get in Dubai. The venue has been a chasing ground historically. 45 out of the 85 T20I matches have been won by the team chasing.

Speaking about the head-to-head between UAE and New Zealand, the two teams have just played one ODI match before this T20I series. The match they played was way back in the 1996 World Cup. New Zealand scored 276/8. UAE scored 169/7 in the 47 overs per side match.
This is the very first bilateral T20I series between the two teams as said earlier. UAE can gain a lot from this experience of playing against a top-class side like New Zealand.
