The Pakistani captain for the T20I series against Afghanistan, Shadab Khan, gave Saim Ayub great marks and expressed excitement about teaming up with the young player going forward.

PCB has given rest to its main players including captain Babar, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, and Fakhar Zaman.

Shadab stated in a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) podcast that players like Saim, Babar, and Abdullah Shafique always appear unique when they play.

“I think Saim is an exceptional talent. After a very long time, we have got a player like him who we can say is as stylish and good as Babar and Abdullah,” lauded Shadab.

“The way he [Saim] plays, he is a player of Babar’s category. Players like them are too good to watch even when they score runs against your team. They are too stylish batters,” Shadab Khan added.

Season 8 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which just ended, saw Saim open innings alongside Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Babar. He was an excellent choice for the Pakistan team because of his elegant batting and dependability. A three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Afghanistan will feature the left-handed hitter, who scored 341 runs in 12 matches during PSL 8.

The T20 captain also urged fans to support the young players during the Afghanistan series. Shadab expressed his excitement at the prospect of leading a young and enthusiastic team.

“A dream for any Pakistani to captain the national cricket team. Can’t thank Allah enough. Really excited to lead this young team, with loads of talent. We will try to play aggressive and progressive cricket. Remember to back the youngsters, they are our future,” Shadab Khan tweeted.

The young players who did well in the PSL 8—Saim Ayub, Azam Khan, Ihsanullah, and Zaman Khan—have been selected for the national squad for the Afghanistan series.
